Volunteering in CIRCE
Since the beginning, CIRCE believes that volunteering has a double objective. First as an effective tool for environmental education along the Southern Iberian Peninsula coast and as a way to train young students who want to get complementary formation from their Universities or Academic Institutions.
Therefore, we have created different volunteering programs where you can participate:
Research Assistant Program:
This is our main program that allows you to take part directly to our research and discover how we study cetaceans by participating actively during a period of 12 days. You will receive training onboard our research vessels on the different research techniques and be given talks on the results and how they are applied directly to the conservation of cetaceans. You will also participate in analysing data collected during the survey.
Large cetacean volunteer program:
We have land-based surveys in summer and winter studying fin and sperm whales in the Strait of Gibraltar from the Natural Park of the Strait.
Practicals for students:
You can do your practical training at our research centre for period between 2 and 6 months if you are enrolled in a University. This will give you a first experience on cetacean research and can be a good starting point in your CV.
Master programs:
If you are looking for Master projects don't hesitate to contact us. We probably have some possibilities to include your master thesis in one of our many research programs.
