La Investigación también determinará el área de distribución de los grupos de delfines y el impacto de las actividades humanas sobre la especie.

El proyecto cuenta con la colaboración de CEPSA y la participación de la plataforma Conservación, Información y Estudio sobre Cetáceos (CIRCE).

Hola everyone,

My name´s Becky and I´m from England.  I have mainly worked with bears before now, although part of my last job involved doing cetacean recording from boats, so I was eager to increase my experience in this area.  So I leapt at the chance to come and study fin whales in the Strait of Gibraltar! 

The fourth week of our stay brought with it pretty bad weather, meaning we were only able to go to the field twice.  On Wednesday we had a full day on the mountain but didn’t manage to spot any whales, and on Sunday we went out hoping for another full day but as the cloud didn’t lift had to leave after one hour!  However within that time we were lucky enough to spot a pair of fin whales, so the trip wasn’t completely in vain.  And, on the upside, the week of bad weather meant that lots of important office work got done!

Hola, hello, ciao, bonjour and guten Tag from the sleepy village of Pelayo!
The third week of our venture to track fin whales on their migration through the Strait of Gibraltar has come to a close and it's my turn to write the blog. My name is Katrin and I'm originally from Germany although I have been living in my adopted home of Great Britain for over 7 years now. Having worked only with bottlenose dolphins and harbour porpoises before, fin whales are a whole different calibre of cetaceans for me and I am still getting used to the unique experience of being able to track the journey of these impressive creatures from a landbased station.
We had an early start to the week to take advantage of the brilliant weather on Sunday and were duly rewarded with the closest fin whale encounter to date! Passing well within the range of the naked eye, we had our first chance to truly appreciate the scale of the animals we are dealing with.

¡Saludos! Soy Tuca, y es mi tercera vez con Circe como voluntaria, aunque es la primera campaña de grandes cetáceos en el Estrecho a la que asisto.

No podía perderme estar aquí de nuevo, y reencontrarme con gente a la que aprecio tanto. Desde la primera vez que estuve en 2008, me quedé absolutamente enganchada a esta zona, a esta gente, y a este trocito de mar…
